When combined with an Instant Risk AssessmentSM and a Fetal Nasal Bone Assessment, NTD’s Ultra-Screen® protocol offers the significant advantages of early reassurance, the highest detection rate and individualized service at the point-of-care. As early as 9 weeks (and up to 13 weeks, 6 days) gestation, your patient uses a simple and safe finger stick procedure to draw a small blood sample, which may be performed either at her home or in your office. Venous blood may be used as well.
This blood specimen is deposited onto an absorbent test card and is then sent to NTD Labs where it undergoes analysis for two biochemical markers: free Beta human chorionic gonadotropin (free Beta hCG); and pregnancy associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A).
The results are stored on a secure server and made available to the physician during the patient’s ultrasound exam between 11 weeks, 1 day and 13 weeks, 6 days gestation. The ultrasound test confirms gestational age and measures fluid accumulation behind the fetus’ neck, or nuchal translucency (NT). During this same office visit, the physician can enter the NT data to complete the risk assessment calculations using NTD Labs’ web-based portal and present the results to the patient directly, saving valuable time and administrative costs.
