Effective risk assessment for Down syndrome requires ultrasound measurement to detect the presence of nuchal translucency, a sac of fluid located behind the neck of the fetus. To use NTD Labs’ services, physicians and sonographers must become credentialed in nuchal translucency measurement.
Once NTD Labs has received appropriate notification that you are qualified to perform NT measurements, we can begin accepting your dried blood specimens and provide you with a combined first trimester risk result. NTD will also log in the sonographer’s NT measurement for each sample and will send each sonographer the NT medians on a quarterly basis. NTD will also submit the medians to FMF on an annual basis for certificate renewal. FMF also reviews 5 NT scans on a yearly basis.

Dried blood sample cards, finger stick devices, requisition and patient education materials are available from NTD Labs. Ultra-Screen® protocol results are faxed, emailed, mailed, or called in, as preferred. Our internal policy is to call the physician for all patient requests which are at increased risk.
