In 1995, NTD Laboratories established its European division under the direction of Dr. Francesco Orlandi.
The laboratory is located in Palermo, Italy and is fully equiped to perform biochemical analyses
associated with first trimester prenatal screening for Down syndrome and other chromosomal anomalies.
Clinicians and/or clinical centers outside of the United States may refer patient specimens directly
to the European division for first trimester prenatal screening. Those centers performing nuchal
translucency measurements may take advantage of the biochemical laboratory of the European division
for first trimester free Beta and PAPP-A analysis as part of our Ultra-Screen™ protocol (combined
ultrasound / biochemistry). Additionally, nuchal translucency evaluation, invasive prenatal
diagnosis (CVS, amniocentesis, fetal blood sampling) and Ob/Gyn Ultrasound are available through
Centro Di Diagnosi Prenatale also under the direction of Dr. Francesco Orlandi for those patients
in the southern Italian region.
